Welcome to the bassoon!
You have just taken the first step towards playing an instrument that is rewarding, in demand and beautifully fun.The bassoon comes from the Renaissance period which was a long long time ago. It is an instrument that can be played solo, with a chamber ensemble, with a band or with an orchestra. For more history and information about this site look to the links at the bottom of the page. Once you get your thumbs warmed up, take a look at the switching tab above to see how your current woodwind instrument relates to the bassoon. If you are not a woodwind player, go directly to the unpacking tab to get yourself and the instrument ready to play. Best of wishes on your journey, it is bound to be an adventure! -John Rosner |
HISTORYThe bassoon has been in the musical world longer than most current instruments. It dates back from the Renaissance period and has been a steady member of the band ever since.
