Intonation adjustments on the bassoon are done by changing the embouchure tension and the air stream along with voicing changes. As the tension is raised so is the pitch. The opposite holds true when tension is lowered. Unlike all other wind instruments there is not any lengthening or shortening of the instrument unless you are changing the bocal size. Most bassoonists use a #2 or a #1 bocal.
